Bulk green beans are available on the farm now. We are selling them for $1.50 per pound. Also we still have sweet corn available which is perfect for freezing. We have been canning Roma and Tenderette green beans on the farm lately. Having farm fresh green beans in the winter is a little work but is well worth it.

Pixall Green Bean Picker
We have purchased a Pixall Green Bean Picker. It does not look like much now. After sand blasting, painting, and replacing some gears and bearings, it should look great. We get lots of request for green beans during the growing season. Anyone who has picked green beans by hand knows how arduous and back breaking a task that can be. We are hoping to have an abundance of green beans this season picked and ready to go.

The Gaffney Farm C.S.A. Visits Transylvania University
Transylvania University hosted a local foods fair to inform the public of ways that they can purchase local food. The Gaffney Farm was invited to the fair along with many other local C.S.A.s and local producers. The Herald Leader did a full article and it can be seen here. There was a lot of interest in the C.S.A. concept among local consumers and a lot of ideas exchanged between the local producers. We are thankful to Transylvania University for hosting the fair and generating interests in local products.
